Mahale National Park

The Mahale Mountains 1,613km2 can only be accessed by boat, making it an exquisite choice for visiting. The park is located on the beaches of the second-largest freshwater lake in the world. With its special view of Mount Nkungwe’s 2500m peak, the Mahale Mountains’ aura is filled with the gushing waterfalls falling into ravines covered in lush flora, spectacular butterflies, and rich avian life. Mahale is known for its 800 wild chimpanzees but is also home to giant forest squirrels, Sharpe’s grysbok, black and white colobus monkeys, bush tailed porcupines, and the scaly giant pangolin.
