The Datoga

The Datoga or Mangati tribe resides in the Manyara and Singida regions of Tanzania, living near the holy Mount Hanang. They are an agro-pastoral tribe and are well known for their blacksmith skills. They are big traders of artifacts such as spears and arrowheads, as well as jewelry. Those items have been/are important to trade with the Hadzabe tribe for their honey. They have a distinctive tattoo on their face that separates them from other tribes; the tattoos are usually around the eyes. The women also wear dried animal skin decorated with beads.
