The Chagga
Claiming number three in largest tribe in Tanzania after the Sukuma and Nyamwezi, the Chagga tribe is a bantu speaking group of people originally resided in Northern Tanzania, South of Mount Kilimanjaro. Their abandoned system of dividing into small groups and having a leader called “Mangi” was left in 1961. They are outspoken when it comes to business, politics and growing plantain. They also prepare their signature brew called “Mbege” made from fermented sweet bananas and millet.
